String Jazz is pleased to announce that, in association with Real Records, Norway, they have taken all 4 of top Swedish jazz guitarist, Staffan William-Olsson's CDs into their catalogue.

Staffan William-Olsson was born on the 13th of December 1959 in Gothenburg, Sweden. After classical piano studies at The Music Conservatory in Gothenburg (no formal training on guitar), he joined the popular Swedish fusion-group "Hawk on Flight", replacing Ulf Wakenius. Various gigs with Bob Berg, Lee Konitz and Palle Mikkelborg followed. Staffan moved to Oslo, Norway in 1986 where he freelanced before he joined the hardrock-group "Sons of Angels", which signed to Atlantic Records in 1989, recorded at L.A.'s Cherokee Studios and toured the east coast from Boston to Miami. The album sold 100,000 units and the band dissolved. Member of "The Real Thing" from its start in 1992. Staffans first CD as a leader, "Three Shades of Blue", released 1995, was nominated for the Norwegian "Grammy" Award (Best Jazz Album) 1995. The second CD "Smile!", (also nominated), was released in November 1998.

Since then, has released two more superb jazz guitar CDs, 'Oak Road Boogaloo' and the most recent, 'Pop'. All showcase the talents of this absolutely world-class bebop jazz guitarist. Another great signing for the String Jazz label. With now approaching 40 superb CDs on the label, we can we feel quite rightly call ourselves THE jazz guitar label worldwide
